The MSM V5.16 map does support JCV but the reason why you were able to see only the LA is because currently JCV for this map is limited to only a few junctions in KL.

How comprehensive is the lane assist function for the 5.16 map? I'm asking as I've loaded the map into my Kenwood/Garmin head unit and it works fine (yes I lose JCV but no big deal). Lane assist is important to me as wife drives the car when I'm out of country and she uses guidance from lane assist quite a bit. Obviously, 5.16 is preferred over the MSM 2011.10 map as it has many more POIs.
