Re: Nokia symbian with mapking

Not all other Symbian phones got the same. E90 has 70-80mb left after bootup. N76 has 40mb for use. 5700 has 20+mb but runs mapking fine.
And with all the fancy menus and stuff loaded into memory in N95, that's all that's left. You could try Handy Taskman to kill the background apps to gain back some ram, but it's not a sure cure. Early adopters always suffer one lah....no choice.

Hey there! I experienced the same problem too.. But I used Mapking s60. I was once connecting the gps, and that time I was in my campus cafe.. I found my self in the swimming pool on the map. That was funy. Then it expires for 3 days.. Haha.. No unlocked version yet i think..

I used Nokia Maps, the performance is good but the maps are not that detail... Not as detail as navfone.. It has the detail up to the extent of 'in building'. It shows where the restaurants, atm or anything inside the buidling itself.. Quite interesting. Well, for its precision, i think it's precise enough.. Once I was lost searching for institut professional baitulmal, I navigated from my stop area in one lorong.. It then pointed out in the gps where I was, And when I look at the nearby road sign, I was at the acurate place. So precise.. Even in small lorong!... Then I was saved by navfone to show my destination.. I am still wondering whether it is free with navigation or not.. Since it says nothing... I still can use navigation and routing... Fun to try!

sigh! to give them credit Nokia has tried their best by giving you all up to 3 different maps software, but all of them even combined cannot be compared to the malsingmaps. If you are serious about gps just get a 10X and use the maps here 8-)

Yes the early symbian 9.1 phones like Nokia N95 and SE P990 suffer from ram shortage which the manufacturers are just beginning to address in the E90 and P1i. For a cheap symbian s60 phone there is the N70 which has 40MB ram and should work well with GMXT.

Guys, do you experience this situation as below? :

Situation: When you turn on NAVFone Pro the voice will say 'GPS Signal Unavailable'. But then when i use Nokia Maps and get my position locked and exit the program and turn on back NAVFone Pro..Then only it'll work.

Any idea what may have gone wrong? :ko:

 No no, nokia give us 3 crappy map software & try to bait us pay for the service.
IMO
Navphone = bad map interface/graphic & its trial

R66 = good software interface but we get a simplified version of Mal map. I'd compare the 6110 build in mal-sing with the one (mal alone) listed in the website, guess wat? the file size of single mal map is larger then the build in mal-sing map. Try to search for Zoo Negara cant get it!!! I think R66 more suitable for europe country than malaysia

Nokia map? Try simulate it bring you to "Holland".

Now trying Mapking 2007 s60, so far the best among above.

I had tried before with hong kong version of mapking r12 s60 that bundle with n95 HK in my 6110, lag like hell, never able to navigate. But the mapking 2007 trial so far so good.
