GMXT, as installed in your SD card, will work only with an external GPSr, eg. Garmin 10x. If you want to use the built-in GPSr of your E71, you need to purchase the GMXT data card from Garmin.

Hi hany44,

The one with MXT Symbian is the right one for you.

You will also need the following files for a start:

1) Garmin Mobile XT software/SD Card,
2) Basemap file,
3) Support files (i.e. Voice & Help files), and
4) .gpi files (POI).

Read here for more detail.

Good luck.

Hi guys, I just got my E71 as well. search the internet on how to get your Garmin XT to recognise your internal GPS. this part deleted

As for the map, i am facing some problems. Although i have a "free" Singapore Malaysia map from Teleatlas which i copied from my friend, i prefer the malsing maps.

I downloaded the free map jan08 for symbian and got it installed into the garmin folder on my E71 sd card. however when i load the garmin program, there is no map. When i go to settings> about> contents, i can see the names of the contributors like jerome, toon.... My internal gps is working fine and it can accquire satellites

Just wonder if there is a map id for the free map which we need to create the.unl file

Another one from the Dark side. While the Force from the Dark side is very strong, it still cannot open all the doors for a smooth and uneventful entry all the time.

garmin xt works fine on my E71

you should pay attention on:
sw.unl
gmapsupp.unl

browse those files above on your file manager: :/memory card/garmin, if you find:
sw.unl.txt
gmapsupp.unl.txt

erase the .txt

try to start garmin xt again

hope i works
