Try MSM Beta 4.1: viewtopic.php?f=26&t=18592

Failing which, try Alpha (partial maps): viewtopic.php?f=15&t=16731

The latter is not locked.

Yes, the MSM Beta 4.1 is the one that is 'unreadable'.

I'll have to give the alpha a shot when I have a bit more time.

Many thanks.

All phones sold in Singapore are unlocked as required by IDA. iPhones still cannot be sold at local stores (at first only Singtel, now M1, and maybe Starhub as well).

Unlocking a phone just means it is not tied to one carrier.

To use software that is not on the Apple store, you must jailbreak your iPhone. Then you have access to Cydia and Rock where apps like the IMG OSM software. You must also jailbreak your iPhone in order to unlock it... but in Singapore that doesn't matter because the phone is already unlocked.

My phone is jail broken. You need to be running (upgrade to) OS 3.1.2 from Apple, then run blackra1n. Very simple. Google 'jailbreak iphone 3.1.2' and you will get detailed instructions. Now to go to work on the maps... and maybe I can contribute... because the iPhone GPS seems to be very accurate... spots me in various corners of my yard.

You have already jailbroken your iphone at OS 3.1.2 ? Sorry but i only have an iPod Touch which don't have a GPS. Anyway how did you manage to preserve your baseband ? or yours is officially unlocked ...? As far as i know Blackra1n will not preserve your baseband and the upgrade will lock your phone forever ~! Did you use pwnagetool ?

Last time I go to LOWYAT when i was talking to this GPs guy and beside me theres a dude telling that he wants to install navigation map on my iPhone and asked how much will you charge ? He said RM 190 ! OMG! What a waste but fortunately he refused lol !
Actually I was asking if the GPS guy reformat my device how much will it cost ? He said it's gonna cost RM 80 !
I asked why is your service damn expensive? Then he starts to babel about we have to do this and do that and etc..etc..

Then i came home and do it myself after some research and it cost RM 0 ! LOL

Moral:
Don't let them do it if you have the time to do it yourself. Unless you are $$$$$$

Yes, my 3GS 3.1.2 is jail broken. No need to unlock since it is a Singtel phone and already unlocked.

Latest version of blackra1n (RC3) includes blacksn0w which will unlock latest modem version of baseband... 5.11.07
