For local sets, I don't think there are reburbished sets since consumers here have very limited rights. Certainly, we don't have the luxury of returning the set for a full refund after playing around for a few days. But in the US, where many people return all sorts of equipment after using them, the refurbished sets usually do not come in the original Garmin box but come in a different box or maybe no box. So, if you are buying a set w/o the original box, this may be a clue. But as SB said, they should be still as good. Probably good value for money.

If I am not wrong, the gmapprom.sum file is the license information for your pre loaded map "gmapprom.img" in your unit. The gmapprom.unl is the unlock code for your pre-loaded map.

actually no, bro silverbeauty, i had 3 .sum files in my device, i.e. gmapbmap.sum, gmapsupp.sum and gmapprom.sum
I deleted all 3 files a long time ago and all my maps are working fine. :)

Hmmm strange. I only had one of these files appear from and older Garmin East Africa map V1 after i used mapsource to copy it to mu nuvi 255. I'm not sure if it was there before i restarted the nuvi and checked the map or not. No other map i have copied over has created one of these files.

I have 3 of them in my device's Garmin directory like aceedburn mentioned aswell. Just curious as to what they are for.

Master Reset on the nuvi® 2xx, 2x5, 5xx, 6xx, or 7xx

#119 Post by tokong » Sun Jan 25, 2009 10:18 am

To do a Master Reset on the nuvi® 2xx, 2x5, 5xx, 6xx, or 7xx:

1.Start with the unit OFF and unplugged from power.
2.Touch and hold the lower right corner of the screen with an index finger or the eraser end of a pencil.
3.Continue touching and holding the lower right hand corner of the screen then power the unit ON.
4.After the unit powers ON, you will see a new message: Do you really want to erase all user data?
5.When this message displays, remove your finger from the bottom right of the screen and touch Yes.
6.The unit will go through the Master Reset.
7.Follow the onscreen instructions to set up your nuvi.
