Looks like nuvi 755 is having the same fate as nuvi 765...

If you are having problem powering on your unit, look here...

If you are not having any problem, DO NOT update the software at this point of time...

If you are having software version 3.40 and unit is still working, you can try the following to avoid the problem...
For testing/debugging purposes, I am renaming the GPS chipset update file on the nuvi temporarily to something else to see if this alleviates the problem. If the update file is not seen by the nuvi, perhaps no update will try to take place. The files are:

x:/Garmin/RemoteSW/006B073300.GCD
x:/Garmin/RemoteSW/006B073300.bin

Rename the two to something the nuvi won't be looking for such as:

006B073300.GCD.disabled
006B073300.bin.disabled

The problem is - For malsing maps there are no shapes/polygons of buildings displayed on the map- only random coloured polygons are splashed under the roads,[/quote]

For City navigator 4.03 does it have lane assist, 3d building and junction view?

Yes and No.

Yes it has all those features, Lane Assist and 3D works.

No JCV will not work for our region. Feature restricted to Asian units only

Help! My Garmin 755 cant boot up after loaded MSM maps. sliding the power switch to ON, does not do anything. I only see a faint flickering of the LCD screen, and no splash screen like normal. Anyone knows whats happening?

Hi ikhong,
Usually this happens when map file (ie. gmapsupp.img) get corrupted during transferring from PC to GPS. Please replace the file in USB mode & try again.

Thanks

Why not try to give the battery a full charge 1st and see whether the problem can be resolved instead of reloading the map.

Good suggestion. I don't think it is a map problem at all. I (and several newbie friends) have experienced this before and after a full charge, there is no more problem. Many devices are designed to shut down when the battery voltage drops to a certain level but not completely depleted so that the batteries (even Li-ION) will not be completely dead and face problems of recharging or in the case of Ni-Cd batteries, there may be no reversal of polarity that Ni-Cd batteries are susceptible to. However, at this shut-down level, the batteries usually do not have enough juice to restart the device until they are recharged.
