Re: Why need a Nuvi when we can have PDA+GMXT+GPSProxy?

Between GMXT and Nuvi 200 (Both of them developed by Garmin)...What does a GMXT and Nuvi 200 (with firmware 3.4) can do and cannot do?? :-.
Bro wylee, GMXT vs Nuvi200 for GPS use almost same functions. Tracking wise, Nuvi 200 is unofficial release with tracklogging while GMXT should be set to "most often" though you could use GPSProxy/GPSGate in PDA to record in 1s interval.

Ease of use, both pretty much similar depending on which PDA model you use.

Nuvi 200 dedicated thus has better screen size and clarity in daylight.

Just to let fellow 200W users know that my unit can read a Transcend 4GB class 6 SDHC card, both maps and pictures are readable. And also writeable when connected to PC.

My unit was bought from USA last dec, updated to latest firmware:
Software ver: 2.90
Audio ver: 2.30
GPS SW ver: 3.00s

From the write up, it seems most of the features can't be used in SG. ](*,)

Features such as traffic data and MSN Direct will not benefit us unless LTA works with GPS providers to let their data go on line.

However features enhancements such as as improved 333 Mhz processor that enhances the device's map drawing and route calculation capability could benefit those with large maps in their Nuvis

HotFix is an interesting technology by Garmin that automatically calculates and stores satellite data and can use use that information to quickly calculate a position without waiting for data collection from satellites. This could help when we are in places where satellite signals are weak such as tunnels, sandwich between tall buildings etc.....

I don't want to see new topics mushrooming after the housekeeping. Please post your queries in the relevant thread. For this thread, I am going to merge it with the "Nuvi - General Discussion" here. This thread is locked and will be merged later with this thread. Thank you.
