While you are navigating:
Just tap on the car icon anytime to get the coordinates of the current location. You can then save it as a favorite.



To check the coordinates of your favorite locations:
First, turn on the simulation mode, that is:

Tap on the spanner icon from the main menu.

Tap on 'Settings'

Tap on 'System'

Switch the 'GPS Simulator' 'ON'

Go back all the way to the menu, select 'Where to' and then your favorites.

Select the place where you would like to see it's coordinate, in my case 'Example'.

Tap on 'show map'.

Then 'Set Loc'


Go all the way back to the menu, then 'View Map' and tap on the car icon.

Isn't that a spanner, not screwdriver icon?

I am a newbie here, just bought a Nuvi 200 without map bundle. I got my GPS with me but have no idea what should i do on making it works . FYI, I am interesting on Malaysia Map.

Can you help to advise what should i do & where should i refer to as i am not familiar with this gadget....

Bro jacketpotato, for a start, as a newbie, before asking any questions, I suggest you read the wiki which is very informative and has the answers to those questions u have in mind. And, after reading it and u still have any other questions, don't forget to shout at the appropriate sub-forum and am sure many members here are more than willing to help you out. Ok, to start you off, being a first timer, I suggest you go to the download section here to download the All-in-one GAMPSUPP (open) June 21, 2007 map.

Having acquired a new Garmin Nuvi 200W on Sat 26Jan08 and read the forum, I wanted to contribute and get the unlock code. I loaded some POI and posted a question that very night on how to obtain the Map coordinates. A good fellow forumer replied but alas, after some test, the solution does not answer the question. Undaunted, I attempted to find the solution on my own.

I found the method to find the map coordinates above ONLY applies when you are in navigation mode or when you are located at the POI.

I have certainly not found a way of finding the map coordinates for any storesd POIs directly from the Nuvi 200W. If I am wrong, please correct me.

I finally found the solution but I must warn nubies the road is bumpy from here on. This is my saga:

Firstly I installed Mapsource, that I downloaded from Garmin. During installation, I encountered the same problem of not being able to activate Mapsource. Did more research on the relevant threads and managed to unlock Mapsource i.e downloaded and installed TrainingCenterForWindows_332.

Connected the Nuvi and transferred the data from the Nuvi to the PC.

The POI will be displayed under the waypoints tab.

The tab will display the POI with all the necessary information inclduing the elusive coordinates.

So much trouble just to obtain the map cordinates, you might think. Frankly I do too, but I am determined to contribute.

Now that I have found a way of obtaining the Map Coordinates, UTTER devastation, most of my precious POIs are already in the maps.

Soon Garmin Nuvi 200* owners will end up being eliminated from MSM, cos we dont have tracking and dont have the ability to create maps and run out of new POIs.

Hope this helps other nubies.

Don't be disheartened just because your new found POIs are already in the latest map as you will soon find something that is not in the map. And, it is also not true that, not being able to track, will render the Nuvi 200 owners running out of new POIs. I can assure you that there are still plenty of new POIs or errors waiting to be discovered if you try hard enough.

Just a little dramatics from me!

Well nowaday, track logging device is affordable if you think POI is running out. I also own a nuvi200 but planning to combine it with GPS track logger so that I could track and contribute to MSM...
