Juz a piece of opinion:

Never use WebUpdater.exe to update anything on local sets. Not even language. I bricked mine previously too becoz of this. Now, I stick to wait for local firmware releases. Also, always take out SD card when upgrading firmware as a caution.

I tried to re-update firmware but to no avail. The keyboard selection is still greyed-out. :/

Have you tried Bro Zeus's suggestion:

I had experienced this once before, and after I changed the language, the Qwerty option is available again.

Try tools > settings > language > text
Change the Text language one by one and check one by one.
See whether all the Text language, the keyboard selection is still greyed-out.
I just check. only Japanese Text language, the keyboard will be greyed-out.

On that screen, there is "Software Version", "Audio Version" and "GPS SW Version"...

I think you are quoting the "GPS SW Version"... The "Software Version" is in Bold white color...[/quote]

Dear Sifu,
Thanks for the response. Now I'm confused as my unit show "Software Version 4.6". Is this the same as firmware version? The update is to version 2.6 or 4.6?

Thanks again...

I think you are not having a local set... Touch Tools > Settings > Map > Map Info... See what maps you are having...

Dear Sifu,
I have the following maps:
Malsingmaps v2.30gold+ indonesia v.58
MSM-Malaysia/Singapore v2.30 Gold
Indonesia Map v0.58
MSM-North Borneo v2.30 Gold
Malsingmaps Malaysia/Singapore/Brunei NT 2009.5

And for the basemap, it uses "Worldwide Autoroute DEM Basemap 2.00"

With all the info, what is the verdict...local set or not...
If it is not a local set, I wonder how I could successfully get the codes for the upgrade from the website.images/smilies/icon_biggrin.gif

Best Regards.

You can enter Nuvi's serial number (not Unit ID) here to check whether your's is local or not: http://www.garmin.com/garmin/cms/site/s ... MapUpdate/ (select Region: Singapore/Malaysia > Map: Malsingmaps Malaysia/Singapore/Brunei NT 2009.5 (2009-06) > Step2: Generate the unlock code. If it's local, you'll receive the unlock codes online.).

Thanks. I managed to trace that mine is not a localized version (bought from Mudah.com).
For the benefit of the one interested, you can check whether your unit is localized or not by following the link http://www.garmin.com/garmin/cms/site/s ... areUpdate/.
Step 2 - Select "Check your unit's version" (menu on top right)
Enter your serial number and you will be presented with the result as shown below
