Try unzip your gmapprom1 (winzip) from your garmin folder if it's actually a winzip fille. When you unzip this file, you should have this filename gmapprom1.img Move this file to garmin folder.

Where's your gmapbmap.img? (garmin map based map)
gmaptz.img? (garmin map time zone)

Did you register your unit online at myGarmin?

If yes, login and go to myMaps. Click "Details" for "CN Singapore/Malaysia NT". What version does it show? Copy down the unlock code for the map as well.

See if I can help to restore the factory default map. :-#

Just bought local 255W, not sure maps up to date..

#9 Post by orionmystery » Mon Jan 25, 2010 10:16 am

A very good morning to all:)

I just bought a local set, 255W and registered it online a few days ago. It's working fine but i am not sure if the maps/softwares are up to date.

When i hooked up my 255w to my laptop using usb cable and checked on garmin site, it says everything is up to date.

Here's what i see when i check Tools - Setting - Map - Map Info:

Malsingmaps Malaysia/Singapore/Brunei NT 2009.40
[1]MSM

City Navigator Singapore/Malaysia NT 2009.31
[1]SGP_MYS_NT_TA200907_JCV 2009.31

Thanks in advance!
