Looking at the situation, my guess is the GPS is tracking via vehicle speed through software. The satellite signal bars shows zero signal strength. If speed drops below a certain level, the error lost satellite signal appears.
Bro Silver, does this work with any installed maps? Because after reading this post, I am under the impression that this works only with supported maps.

As of now, my 3790T runs only with MSM NT and Garmin NT maps.

Other maps have graphical problems in that some roads do not appear. And you saw my post on Garmin stand on support of 3rd party maps :(

Ah... yes, forgot about that. So does this "poor man's dead-reckoning" feature work with both City Navigator and MSM NT maps?

So far, I only notice it happens on the KPE ( Kallang Paya Lebar Expressway ) entire stretch.

Initially I was skeptical about this. But I notice that unit did not prompt "lost satellite signal" when the signal strength shows zero signal, And voice navigation prompt you when you reach the designated exit.

This expressway is a long stretch, stretching almost 12Km.

As of last week, my 1490TV was installed with nüMaps Lifetime™ Europe.
Now, with that new stretch of tunnel that Switzerland recently bored through, the Gotthard Base Tunnel, that's quite a length for a record at 57km without any coverage either but Switzerland also has an apathy with GPS usage and their users btw. :-$

Nuvi 3790 - Voice command do a reboot

#130 Post by spunky2009 » Tue Nov 23, 2010 11:07 am

I just got this Nuvi 3790. Took it for a ride up to Perlis from KL. Tested the voice command function only to be disappointed! On numerous occasion when I use it and mention the road names using the Find voice function, the whole unit goes into a reboot!?
Another problem is when I put the unit in sleep mode, the unit hangs when I wake it up. The whole screen freezes and nothign can be input for quite some time.
Does anyone using this unit have the same problem? Any solution to these problems? Thanks.
