The bluetooth function is really useful and so far I like this unit much more than my old 1450. Satellite lock-on is faster as well.

However, the 2465 does not feel as well built and as solid as the 1xxx series.

Just to clarify with the bros who have gotten the 2465, when it is charging via usb, the screen indicates "charging battery" and the screen goes black after a while. Is this normal? In the 1450, it used to indicate "charging battery" all the way till it was "charging complete"
Hi Bro Odyssey02,

When you connect your unit to the PC or laptop, USB detected will prompt you to choose either Garmin mode or Mass Storage Mode. Choosing Garmin mode will bring you to main screen while charging your unit. I don't experience the screen goes black but I do experience some destinations take about 20 to 30 seconds for the unit to show me the navigating mode.

If I go into Garmin mode, it will go to the default home screen where it shows the two icons "Where To" and "View Map" and I can see that the battery is charging from the battery icon on the top right corner.

What I am referring to is when the USB is plugged in and I turn off the GPS unit. It would indicate "Charging Battery" before the screen goes black. Is it because the battery is already full? In my old 1450 it would indicate "Charging Battery" before changing to "Charging Complete" instead of the screen going black.

Tested with my unit. You are right. Turning off the GPS will indicate "Charging Battery" and then the screen goes black. It doesn't mean the battery is full because mine is near empty. May be to save energy, go green mah.

I see.

You may be right as it seems to be in a form of sleep mode. Goes to the main page immediately once the power button is pressed instead of needing to wait for the start up process.

Mine gets hooked up once I return my units, out of the car and onto their respective docks by my puter table. The Nuvi like the picture below shows, it gets the default display.

Image

After which, when I depress the power switch to turn it off, it will first show for a few seconds only, the information saying that the unit is charging before it blacks out.

To have it come on, one needs to press the power key again.

Image

Unlike my Nuvi 650, tapping on the screen is all it needs for the screen to display again, albeit to indicate if charging is still on or completed.

Create a Map folder in your microSD card. Download, unzip, copy and paste the file (gmapsupp) into the Map folder. The good thing about newer Nuvi models like th 1xxx series, 2465 and 3790 is that you can install as many maps as possible as long as the card capacity allows it. Just change the name of the file to any name you like, preferably for convenience and easy remembrance like MSMv514.img, MySgmap.img, etc.
