GPS: Panasonic 78014 DVD-AVN (Toyota)
Hi, I'm new here too ! Want to know if your map updates are compatible to be used for my new toyota dvd-avn gps which i know runs on some sort of Garmin. Noticed the mapdata is hopelessly outdated (2010!!!!). anyone has experience or have done it before ? my current version is "Malsingmaps Malaysia/Singapore/Brunei NT 2010.42". Does this show that toyota is using your maps ? Just wanna try my luck before i go to Toyota (to pay money!!!!) to update for something that's supposedly free :(

I think toyota has a oem version of the garmin car unit. It should be able to use our map. The only thing is to find out where is the map data storage (usually in a SD card). Try to look thru your manual.

My OEM Toyota ICE unit is from Panasonic and uses Garmin Navigational system.

Maps/POIs/Favourites/JCV all stored in external SD card.

Able to run MSM maps with no problem

For mine the OEM map is stored in SD card/garmin directory under gmapprom.img with unlock code gmapprom.unl

You can put a second map under gmapsupp.img in same directory.

I have the same folders as yours, which Nuvi device MSM NT 2012.20 map should I download from garmin website? I guess all Toyota DVD-AVN are the same.

Use this map viewtopic.php?p=202898#p202898

The maps from Garmin website are meant only for localized units. My Toyota ICE unit is a localized so supports Junction View / Lane Assist. Don't know about yours. Check with your local distributor. If you purchased a parallel import then it will not support Junction View / Lane Assist.

Thanks.

I was using that map for the SD card. I save the map into the Garmin folder together with the original gmapprom.img file, save the junction view in Garmin/JCV folder, and save the AES POI in POI folder, and Update some voice file. Ended up i can't start the Map function for DVD-AVN.

I tried to restore back the SD Card to original condition also can't help this prob....

the Toyota 2-DIN DVD-AVN garmin sucks!

Do not get the add-on!!!

Ive used garmin before and UMW-Toyota is ripping people off with the DVD-AVN unit.

Firstly, the SD card u get is the only sd card u can use with the toyota avn. U cant use ur own SD card which might have ur collection of maps, POIs, AES cameras etc.

Secondly, the Garmin on the AVN unit is some low function type, which does not even have proximity warnings. Even if u eventually get the latest map on the SD card they provided, the GPS unit will never warn you of traffic lights, speed cameras ahead.

Thridly, after sales service regarding the avn unit is hopelessly out of the world hopeless. Bunch of ignorant tele-operators who are not tech-savy and cant troubleshoot anything. Worse still, is they do not even bother coz u have already purchased the bullshit.
