Advice on Nuvi 2457 and Nuvi 2557 LMS

#1 Post by Alex123 » Fri Dec 13, 2013 4:56 pm

I wish to ask for advice on buying either the Nuvi 2457 or the 2557.
Anyone using these and have any opinion/advice?
Thank you.

There is no problem with installing malsingmaps on the new Nuvi that you intend to purchase.

Thanks for the reply. I bought the 2455LMT while im here in US. THe reason I asked the question is that previously there was discussion about US-Nuvi vs. SG/Malaysia Nuvi and I didnt want to buy something that wasnt compatible.

I have no prior experience with Nuvi since as you can see on the sidebar im still on Mobile 10X.

Though the 2455 is slightly older i bought it because:
Accepts marine maps (others dont)
Has dual orientation screen
In lane assist, has split screen which shows actual Google photo of the junction.
Save money. I paid RM300 for a new 2455LMT, extra RM50 for a 3-year warranty.

Whats bad about the current crop of Nuvi isnt the hardware but the software. I still prefer Mobile XT for its features and the way it operates and gets you around. Seems Garmin is steadily reducing features in the software in the name of simplicity.
