Garmin NUVI 760 User - Can't Search Address using MSM

#1 Post by alfcanada » Wed Nov 14, 2007 8:37 pm

Hi Guys,
I've searched the forum and found this link:

viewtopic.php?f=9&t=117&st=0&sk=t&sd=a& ... &start=200

basically it gives a workaround to use the POI search to find addresses.

Problem is that it's not that useful cos for the Nuvi 760 that i use, i only get POIs that are close to the search string that i use, and not road names.

I loaded up the HDB POI so i can search HDB addresses, however, i cannot search street names, for example, if i want to search for

"VANDA DRIVE" i cannot.

I know that using the Address Search will not work unless you get a GARMIN map .. is there any other Address POI upload, similar to the HDB POI upload that we can upload into the Nuvi that will make the street names like POIs?

thanks in advance!
sorry if someone answered this question before .. i've tried searching and have run out of answers ...

cheers!!
alf

which map did you download?

If you use installer version you must also download and patch together the Road POI img file.

The easiest would be to download the gmapsupp.img for Nuvi

I think he creates his own gmapsupp.img... then try looking here for the RoadPOI map.

$1190 . Another $200 more w Garmin Sing/Mal map.

Built quality very good. But strangely, I can't seems to get into the satellite page by tapping on the satellite reception bar (like what I did on my 660).

To access the satellite menu: Hold down the satellite signal bar for 4 seconds.

Why do u need to upgrade to the 670 when the 660 is already good enough? What are the features in the 760 that are not found in the 6xx series?
