After many unsuccessful tries, I managed to update my Kenwood DNX 7200 firmware to v1.09.

Here's what happened: I copied the file "k07v_update1.09.tar.gz" to my sd card. Using a multi-card reader, I connected to the usb port of the Kenwood set. The update line appears, but the start button couldn't be pressed. I tried many other methods, including extracting the files, and using the main file. Then I read from the instrutions that certain multi-card reader has compatibility issue. So I went to buy a 1GB thumbdrive. After many tries again, it didn't work also.... :cry:

I borrowed another thumbdrive from my friend, and try again.... still it don't work. I was told at another forum to try copying some songs to the thumbdrive and try playing it. And... it didn't work.... :ko:

At this stage, I thought that my Kenwood set got problem liao... unitil I thought of the last resort...
I use a pen and press the reset button on the set.... Presto! It works!

Took about 5-6 mins for the updating processs. The album artwork now works for Ipod Classic, except that the resolution is quite bad....well it's better than having a "Load Error"! Hope that it will also solve the issue of occasional hanging...Enjoy the update!

What was the config - SD card with reader or thumbdrive?

For me, thumbdrive works. But dun think got problem with card reader, as did upload pics to the set previously w/o problems.

i just updated mine fr 1.0.2 to 1.0.9, tho i dun need to since i m not using ipod :rolleyes: just kiasu... hehehe...

in the manual, it warns not to use card reader for update, so better use thumbdrive to b safe. once error, bye2 ur HU.

Btw guys, any way to change the arrow icon to something else, maybe a car? Seems that standalone Garmin units can change the icons.
