I am a newbie here, interested in GPS sometimes back in Dec 2006 when I was in UK with my family, my bro lent me his Tom Tom GPS and I managed to travel all over London, Cambridge and nearby towns with ease. What a wonderful gadget making my travelling so much fun as well.
Anyway, my brother now wants to give me his UK Garmin 200W.
I am not sure it will work here or not or whether I can download the local maps into the Nuvi 200W. Please advise or help me out, some ideas will be much appreciated. I don't mind paying for the my & sg maps.
Many thanks,
Cheers,
christan
CHun,

just go to the download section of Mlasigmap, download the Jan08 free (unlock) MySin map to your nuvi.

this is the beauty of MalSingmap.com =D>

Do hope you contribute some POI or tracks after use

During use in vehicle & whilst being hooked up by power supply thru 12v cigarette point, charging is only at a trickle , enough to sustain functionality but a FULL charge is best accomplished when unit is switched off and charging is allowed to take over at 100%.

I do this when i removed it from car, hook it up again on the cradle inside home, connect it to mains with the USB port until it reads out that Battery Charging is Complete.

Completion like this showing when finished>>:

My Nuvi200w problem

#198 Post by beebox » Tue Apr 29, 2008 12:06 pm

hello everyone,

i'm a virgin owner of a nuvi200w after stumbling upon this forum

i'm having problem switching on my garmin when it is plugged into my pc usb port, the screen only shows the word garmin and a usb mode logo.

How do i get it working while plugged into USB?

i have tried turning on the GPS and then plug in the usb,but doing so will just make the garmin and USB mode logo appear.

I browse thru the GPS help mode, but no helpful info is inside..

Appreciate any help to get it running..

btw, i'm running win2000pro on my pc and leopard/panther on my macs. :tq:

- Turn on your Nuvi
- Plug in the USB cable
- When it is in the Data mode unplug the USB cable
- Before the Nuvi reboot fully (~6-7 sec) plug in the USB cable again.
- The Nuvi should be power up and in navigation mode.

Hope this helps...Cheers!

Is there another way to boot it ?
