U can find those alert files e.g. speedtrap, redlight cameras, ERP gantries, 4-D outlets, etc. in "Community POIs" sub-forum.

My dear, I do not think that mirror has that great an effect. And even it if does reflect, haven't you heard about the multipath effect ?

In your SD card, create a sub folder called "POI" under the Garmin folder. Copy them to the POI sub folder.

Alternatively, if you have sufficient memory space in the unit itself, might want to consider putting the files directly in the unit. Locations are like in the SD card. Maps go into the Garmin folder. POIs go into the POI subfolder in the Garmin folder.

I did a quick comparison with malsingmap (just SG and W M'sia) on an SD card and in the unit itself. From the SD card, it took 30sec from start to the Warning screen. In the unit itself, it took 25sec.

5sec might not seem like a lot, but it is still some savings (and it is over 16% faster).

Simple solution for Nuvi on the new map 2.23 issues

#89 Post by susuman » Mon Mar 17, 2008 12:36 pm

For guys who own Nuvi that do not want the hassles to combine the map or possible losing some features like Address or Spell Name search, try this way.

1. Copy the Malsing gmapsupp.img into Nuvi
2. Get a SD card and plug into the Nuvi
3. Make a Garmin folder
4. Copy the borneo map into the SD card Garmin folder
Done , you have both map with all the features ready. This method does not apply to MXT

If you do not have the SD card OR if you SD card already have another map, that you do not want to loss:
1. Copy the Malsing gmapsupp.img into Nuvi (by the installer or manually)
2. Rename the borneo gmapsupp.img to gmapprom.img
3. put the gmapprom.img into the Nuvi
Done

This works on my Nuvi200
