mokwm - did u find this by yourself or from another forum? if it's from another forum pls show the link. tq

instead of just putting space, try putting number 123456789

<upperkbrd>QWERTYUIOASDFGHJKL1ZXCVBNMP2345678</upperkbrd>
<lowerkbrd>qwertyuioasdfghjkl9zxcvbnmp0@./?()</lowerkbrd>

i hv tried on my 250w and it works =D> but it would be nice if i can put 0-9 on the upperkeyboard.

for example african keyboard have 37 letters. i tried putting more space or number than 34 but unable to get it to work.

if anyone knows how to add more numbers pls share.

of if your nuvi can display qwerty, pls upload the British_English.gtt file or files that shows qwerty. :-k

maybe someone cn create the file and put it at the official download site (provided the moderator approved).....so the newbies or technically challenged person can just swap the necessary file.....

I'm not suppose to overwrite the GMAPSUPP.IMG file in the main unit, right? :)
Hi Estelle,

You can only have one Gmapsupp.img file in your Nuvi and SD card. Hence, we always advice member to backup these files by renaming them before copying any Gmapsupp.img into these directory. If you don't backup or rename you'll permanently loose this map.

Hope this helps.... cheers!

Estelle, GMAPSUPP.IMG is the detailed map usually transfered via Mapsource or manually placed, and as Bro MoeyHC mentioned can be placed in \Garmin folder in device or memory card. GMAPPROM.IMG is the preloaded detailed map that came with the unit, and if you don't use this map you can back it up somewhere and safely remove this file from your Nuvi to gain more space. Meanwhile, GMAPBMAP.IMG is the world basemap, useful when you zoom out and try to browse for other detailed maps.

QWERTY keyboard 9 by 4 tiles (see below for 9 by 5 tiles)

i have attached the file that i edited. it is compressed in rar format. [please BACKUP the original British_English.gtt file first.]

please uncompress using winrar or winzip (tried posting .gtt file but the forum doesn't allow it) and

put the .gtt file in your garmin\test\ folder

you need to replace your British_English.gtt in the text folder, but please BACKUP the original file first.

from what i read this only works if your gamin have text folder e.g h:\Garmin\text (i.e nuvi 200 series)

it works on my 250W as for other nuvi pls post your comment here if you have successfully done it.

QWERTY keyboard 9 by 5 tiles

- the keys a a little smaller than 9 by 4 but it has more characters
- use which ever suit your need

installation is same as above (9x4 tiles) and please remember to BACKUP your original British_English.gtt file!

also included are screen captures.

I got inspiration from some polish website that published a "qwerty" polish keyboard. So I tried to mess with the gtt file in a friend's nuvi 200 and was pleasantly surprised I could change the order of the characters :) I left the bottom row as spaces to mimic the space bar but it's a great idea to put in numbers and punctuations !

Thanks a lot for posting the edited file for all to use! :)
