Re: How to install map to my GPS

#21 Post by Cklasse » Fri Feb 01, 2008 10:55 pm

My impression was if I uncheck Malsing, it means my Nuvi will not load Malsing map upon boot up but will load the checked US map. As such, there should not be any Sin map showing at all because it only loads US map.

I am just puzzled that Malsing map still shows, so what is the purpose of having the map selection?

You may find up to 2 Malsing maps in your device, did you uncheck both or the
Malsing Borneo only? I tried with my Nuvi and I could not see any Malsing Maps at all.

I tried booting without the SD card but it still shows Malsing map. I suspect I had saved a copy into the Nuvi but I can't find any filename that resembles Malsing map. Maybe the filename has been changed or it's saved in some where. I am tempted to do a hard reset that will erase all user data but I do not want to lose my favourite points. Are favourite points stored in Nuvi or SD card? and in which folder?

Thanks for all the answer.

Hi,
I heard that the "locked" map have the function of searching blk nos and postal code. Is that true ? Or only the original map from Gamin can do that ?

I don't know about the original Garmin map as I don't own one but all the malsing maps, regardless of version, can search for HDB blk nos but not postal code.

Why do u need to reset your Nuvi just because you can't find the map? The malsing map is called "gmapsupp". If u really need to reset your Nuvi, then I suggest you do a backup of all the files before you do so in case some of them get corrupted or lost. I am saying it is likely to happen but prevention is always before than cure. The favourite points are all stored in the Nuvi under the folder called gpx, I believe so.

Garmin Nuvi BT series questions...

#29 Post by sentravip » Thu Feb 14, 2008 4:54 pm

To all the otais with the Nuvi BT series (310/360/6XX/7XX and etc), I got a question that needs your assistance.

I've trial tested the 310 to pair with my BT phone, it ain't no problem.

But wondering if this is possible.

1. Call out - Dial using the Nuvi and talk with another BT headset
2. Call in - Nuvi will show who's calling and accept the call using another BT headset

Is that possible?

Thanks!

Don't think you can do either of both options mentioned.

I tried this long ago with my combo of Nuvi 610, BB 8700 & a SE Bluetooth Headset. When I enter my car, my BB immediately pairs the Nuvi. When an incoming calls comes in, it immediately goes to speaker phone on the Nuvi. The problem comes when I want to answer the call in private and use my SE headset. This is a painful process as you have to either disable Bluetooth on the Nuvi, and then activate my SE headset or transfer the call to my Blackberry from the Nuvi and then activate my SE headset. When driving both options are not safe to do as it points to a disaster to happen.

IMHO, it seems the problem is with the middle man, the BB 8700 or the Nuvi. The Nuvi is considered another Bluetooth headset so you can't connect another headset to it. Neither seems to have the software options to solve this dilemma. ](*,)

Now I took the Nuvi out of the equation and use only my SE when in a car :(
