I am in urgent need to buy a Garmin Nuvi that can download latest Malsingmaps from time to time.
I do not need the extra perks in a Nuvi - the most basic one will do (equivalent to TomTom GB)
Pls Pls Pls give me advice on which model will suit to my need and if there is a link of instructions that I can follow to download and install Malaysia and Singapore map to my Gamin Nuvi model.
Thank you thank you very much for all the help. :prayer: :prayer:
Most basic nuvi currently availabe would be the 200 (3.5" LCD) or 200W (4.3" LCD), both are no-frills navigation devices! :)

Is gamin nuvi 200 easy to work around with malsingmap? ie downloading maps, updating etc?

Thank you
Bro ymi7, very easy, just download June maps into main memory / garmin or SD card /garmin and off navigating you go. Contribute 2 POIs and you get the unlock code for latest, download, run mapsource, transfer to unit direct or to PC hard-disk to copy out to Nuvi.

Thanks everyone.

If I am to buy Garmin Nuvi 200 or 250w, will I need to buy extra SD card to download Malsingmaps or can I just download on the provided SD card?

Another question - Once I download the map, is it ready to use for navigation straight away or do I have to unlock first
?

Thank you

Nuvi 200 doesn't comes with a SD card. You gotta get your own.

But if you wanna skimp on the purchase, you can have the MSM map on the unit itself. Just make a backup of your unit 1st.

Hiya,

It will be either Garmin Nuvi 200, 250w or the next model available ---> i just need the most basic nuvi.

Am I getting this right?
1. get a 512mb sd card
2. install mapsource
3. install malsingmap (latest Feb 2008 right? Will this be unlocked?)
4. My Nuvi is up and running for use.
5. to get latest updated maps -> I will have to contribute 2 POI

Thank you

The other day, I was told no more 512 stock, now die die also 1G.
Search round the forum on how to get MapSource for free
FEB one is locked and oni can be viewed in MapSource. To view on your Nuvi, get the June unlock one from the download page.
Yup... Up and gpsing
A combination of the requirements if I'm not mistaken tough...
