Using a 255 bought from US. Encountered the wrong turn indicator (top right) at roundabout simliar to those faced with 205. Anyone else facing this issue and has there been any solution?

Thanks,
GCW

This problem has been reported by Bro Kennicks before. I found 2 posts mentioning this problem
but I don't see any solutions offered:

Maybe your Nuvi is homesick for left-Hand Drive.

Point 4 was the reason after all.

After 4 days of heavy navigation, the nuvi performed well. All I did was to sit in the car outdoors and wait for it to lock the signal then select POI and navigate. Signal locking was pretty fast. :tq:

One funny thing is that it actually pronounced PIE as pie(as in chicken pie) haha

Thanks once again. Am looking forward to contribute! :good:
Try using British English-Serena (TTS) instead, i also fixed the soft TTS voices by manually tweaking the voice file to make it louder.... much better in my car now... TTS voices as loud as non-TTS voices...
Good...

It seems to me that after updating the SW version to 4.80, this erratic route highlight occurred (see attached pictures below).

The Garmin tech suggested resetting the unit. Which I did, it routed fine to next address down the road. But, it just did not want to show the route correctly to the address just before that (i.e. 1100 Sheppard Ave. W. vs. 1090 Sheppard Ave. W.). Then, the Garmin tech suggested this could be unit issue and suggested to exchange the unit.

By the way, it works fine with "simulation" mode. The erratic route highlight only happened during navigation mode. It seemed to me that this happened when the GPS could not get a location fix just before arriving at the designation (i.e. on the exit ramp off the highway).

Is anyone having the similar issue with other mapset? What else can I do to fix the problem other than send it back to Garmin to have the unit exchanged with a newer unit (then I will need to get a new unlock code for my MSM Ver. 2.30 mapset)?

Tech info:
255W GPS US
SW Version 4.80
CN North America NT 2009 mapset as GMAPPROM.IMG

Many Thanks in advance for your suggestions / comments.

My Nuvi 205W with SW version 4.80 also got this problem. But I only encounter this issue once, so far...

This issue has been feedback in other forum. Most likely a firmware bug.

Just bear with it and wait for new firmware to be released. For the time being, just follow voice instructions and indications shown on top left.

I just found out how to rollback the firmware from 4.80 to 4.60. I will give it a try and report the results back to here (or you can read it at GPSPassion discussion group).

I was able to resolved the issue with downgrading to SW 4.60. This is before with SW 4.80:

This is after with SW 4.60:

To rollback your SW to 4.60, just download this file: http://www.garmin.com/software/nuvi2x5W ... y__460.gcd. Rename it to GUPDATE.GCD, copy into \Garmin directory on your nuvi and restart your GPS. Answer "yes" to upgrade to an older version. When downgrading you will loose your favorites and settings. [Credit goes to popej @ GPSPassion.com].

NUVI 255w & 255WT

#88 Post by lawtrain88 » Thu Mar 12, 2009 5:49 pm

Hi Nuvis,

Intend to purchase a Nuvi 255 at the ITSHOW later. May I know what is the difference for these 2?

Is this a good buy? Was told that Merdeka is selling at $429/- as they're the agent for Garmin and the biggest in S'pore.

Thank you. :)

I can't find Nuvi 255WT in Garmin website. You should use this:

https://buy.garmin.com/shop/shop.do?cID=134

Choose (check the boxes) the models you want and press "Compare".
