Try this way, click the where to?, then click aero down, click extras, click custom POIs, click spell, you can search the name here.

Hope this is you answer.

Superman7 wrote:I have managed to transfer the .gpx file onto the Nuvi. It shows in the Custom POIs but still I am not able to search it using the normal search menu. Is this the case? or is there something that I did not do correctly? Pls advise.
Thanks.

That means it is not possible to search custom POIs using the normal search method I guess.. Thanks anyway bro.. :tq:

with the recent upgrade of software from 3.4 to 3.6 for 200, the tracking function is lost.

so the 200 and 200W are same same... other then the screen...and price

The widescreen alone should be worth the price difference. Almost all the higher end models have this widescreen.

I am not entirely sure but I believe that the US version of 200w is the first model to come with the latest City Navigator North America NT 2008. I believe the 200, 250 and 270 come with the previous map version which is 3 years old. Definitely better to have the latest US & Canada map than the old map.

well, i'm not too sure. someone from my department will travel to US and she will bring back to me. i guess i will buy a SD card and load the malsing map because the device bought from US isn't preloaded Malaysia Map. is this possible?

US and Taiwan sold much more cheaper than in Malaysia and Singapore.

Of course, Nuvis bought in the US are not preloaded with Malaysia / Singapore maps. They are preloaded with North American maps and optionally, Europe maps. What I mean is that a Nuvi with the latest 2008 North American maps will be better than a Nuvi with a North American map that is a few years behind.

Nuvis bought in other countries will have other maps or no map.

I am quite certain the US 200w has the latest North American maps. What I am not certain is whether the 200 has it as well.

Yes, you can load malsingmaps into the /garmin directory of the SD card.

The low exchange value of the US dollar makes it attractive to buy there.

Just got myself a new Nuvi200 on Saturday. I've downloaded the June 2007 unlocked maps to my SD Card, and so far it has amazed me.

I have spent the last 1 month going through the Wiki of Malsingmaps to get a better grasp and understanding about the product, the maps, contributions, etc....Slowly but surely, I'm beginning to understand.

I've also downloaded the latest 2008 locked maps for viewing on Mapsource, so that I can check whether any new waypoints or POI have been incorporated in that locked map.

Now, will try to contribute as much as possible of errors, waypoints and new POI.

BTW, am loving my new Nuvi200 very much.

Well done, bro azlan8018. =D> =D> You are one of those few who have gone thru the wiki thoroughly and have gained a better understanding of this forum and other GPS thingy before you start asking the "WHYs" and "HOWs". I am confident, with those knowledge gained thru the wiki, you are now ready to contribute towards earning your unlock code. Hope to read about your contribution soon. Keep up the good work! =D>
