MapSource send maps to GMPC

#1 Post by cowan » Wed Jul 23, 2008 5:08 am

Hello !

I'm new on this forum.
I've searched on this forum but no luck.

I have latest updates of MapSource and city navigator 2008,bluechart,adria route 2.0 and garmin mobile pc.

When I select maps on mapsource and want to send them to the mobile pc I get error: "There was a problem communicating with the garmin device. The file name, directoy name or volume label syntax is incorrect !"

I've uninstall mobile pc and mapsorce but no luck :(

Please help me !!

Thanks

I did have the same problem before. I found that if you have GMPC software active, the problem may disappear. But it does not solve the problem on my second PC. Try using MapInstall from Garmin.

Hi

You have to downgrade to Mapsource 3.13.7. It is said you have to reinstall it twice before it works.
3.14.1 has some bugs.

Alternatively, you may transfer maps to a USB drive or a data card, and manually copying GMAPSUPP.IMG into ?:\GarminMobilePC folder. If you do not have one or do not own any Garmin device, PM me for a patch for Mapsource v6.13.7, so that you'll be able to transfer Mapsource data locally to your HDD.

Just plug in your USB thumbdrive or data card into a card reader, and you're good to go (Mapsource will detect it as a device).
