Hi all, dunno if this has been brought up before (try search no luck). I recently bought nuvi 200
and found out that using the same maps data, the font on nuvi is much better than the font (talking
about the allignment) on my GVN-52 , any idea how to fix this?

thank you.

Wow that's quick! Yes you are right. (and yes I am using HU panasonic).
Furthermore, it looks like font without the anti alias, if you know what i mean.

your Nuvi having a small screen size of 2.8"W x 2.1"H (7.2 x 5.4 cm); 3.5" diag (8.9 cm)
with 320 x 240 pixels giving you a 4:3 aspect ratio.

Your Pana is a 6.5" 16:9 aspect ratio.

If you display a 4:3 image on a 16:9 it will stretch a little bit.

Also displaying the same image file resolution over a 3.5" Nuvi screen will look much better over 6.5" Panasonic screen.

Same like if you print a 640x480 on a 3R will look sharper then when printed on 4R.

That's true, but what I meant is .. (how to put it? ..)
Say I have a street name which is shown diagonally on the screen, with GVN it is shown with each character heading North.
This is the example of GVN font showing diagonal names (don't mind the '.')
S
...T
......R
........E
...........E
..............T

Yes that's what I meant. I was going to upload some pictures, but you did it first.
On the 3D mode, only horizontal names, no diagonals ...
Nothing I can do ...? Thanks man, for the update.

Is it the same thing with Kenwood DNX7100?

Dear bro trajet2b,

Apparently I didn't pay enough attention, on 3D mode it still display the same font allignment.
Take a look at this. I am using S/W version 2.1 (GVN-52 china version).

bro ketanitem,

i know how you feel man. This is crap! The way they do it, is for supporting chinese text display.

Can you write to Garmin to see if they can have some updates that can display english text properly on the GN-52 China version?
