OK, I'm going to lay it out on whoever's asking which PDA/Smartphone is best for installing Garmin XT.
Any PDA/Smartphone is fine so long it does not run on WM.
Having experienced the i780 and the Omnia, I can truly say that WM-based devices SUCK. The programming codes are (still)buggy at best, features don't always do what they are supposed to sometimes, need a hella lot of memory(ROM- and RAM-wise) and worst of all, battery run-times are pathetic at best. Sure, you've heard of people saying that their phones last 2-days! But at what cost? BT turned off, Wi-Fi detection turned off, on GSM network instead of 3G, display backlight at its lowest setting, Powersave mode turned on and other yaddah... So why buy a phone with all these features then? Bah!
The kick-in-da-nuts is that Samsung WM-based devices with their proprietary software, sockets and jacks don't allow 'field/portable phone chargers'(the kind that runs on AA batteries or battery packs that are recharged either by solar cells, USB ports or otherwise). And even if you did, try looking for a proprietary plug that works with one.
So there, rambling over...
Anyway, I'm a happy camper with my E71 now. And I have whatever features I need on the phone turned on and on 3G network without fear of too short a battery life. I make it a point to re-start the phone every morning, use it as my primary unit for in-car navigation, charge it using Eveready Energizer's portable charger when it runs down and it looks great.
