GPS: Garmin Nuvi 265WT
Firmware SgMy 2.70
Map: Garmin compiled 2009.30 with JCV
My new Nuvi 265wt firmware 4.60 cannot work with iPhone OS 2.2. The Nuvi shuts off automatically after a few minutes when iPhone is connected via Bluetooth.

Here is an official reply from Garmin International:

Thank you for contacting Garmin International.

We, apologize currently the IPhone software O.S.2.2 is not compatible with the Nuvi 265wt and is bluetooth firmware. We will be coming out with a software to resolve this and also please be sure to check with Apple soon for a new update to pair with a Nuvi.Currently the two are not compatible.

The letter "T" tells that unit has Live Traffic feature Live traffic delivered via FM. Take note that this service is provided by the Traffic Message Channel and is respective country service provider dependant. It is useless here for now unless local vehicle authorities implement it.

Thats right... its only handy when you take it abroad where designated countries provides the TMC transmission so, not a total loss if U R a regular traveller to many countries.

265WT.

Not sure about 265w though.

265 is really cheap in Australia. After conversion it is a shade below RM1000. If you have friends in Australia or going there - you can consider. Its difficult to find the handhelds though. Nuvis u can find anywhere. Dont forget to pay additional AUD15.00 for international warranty.

The above features are correct, except FM lifetime traffic will only work if you plug-in the cigi-usb charger. In other words, 265 W is 265 WT without the plug-in 8-)

Its BT is very handy while driving. Speaker is loud & volume is adjustable via the mobile phone.

Disadvantage: it does not allow setting of 'Avoidance Route/Area/Road' (NUVI 2XX in fact) & my battery indicator drops every 30 mins (can someone comfort this please). It won't last for more than 2 hours :fire:

Overall, it is a good device to have.

Cheeers all.

P/S, I got it through Amazon, sent to USA address & brought back by a friend. Cost: USD 250 (Amazon's Friday night black out sales)

Full utilization on yr Nuvi will indeed drain seriously quicker than just viewing the maps and you'd be better off letting it stay plugged-in with the ciggy 12v outlet during the ride/drive.

The FM lifetime traffic will only work in areas that is providing such service especially in the US and certain parts of Europe. The traffic data service is NOT available here hence, is useless for use in SG and MY.

IMHO, I dun see the need for 265W, 255W would suffice...

1) Traffic service dun work in Singapore and Malaysia,
2) bluetooth is redundant as bluetooth headset normally comes free with handphone anyway.
3) I dun want all my passenger to hear my conversation.
