adding new maps from gmapprom1_2009.5(2).zip
Hi I'm a mac user and I've followed to the best of my knowledge the instructions on the site to add the free map. It won't unlock. has anyone here tried this?

After following the instructions, did you have "gmapprom1.img" and "gmapprom1.unl" in your memory card now?
All you need to do next is to rename them to "gmapsupp.img" and "gmapsupp.unl" respectively.
Please remember to place both files in Garmin folder of memory card.
Re: GPSmap 60CSx - Part 2
Hi Friends,
I just got my 60CSX from Perfect Watch today and got the TOPO maps for SG, MY and BRUNEI for free via a SD Card.
However, for city navigation, I realised i cant find an address via the address function! I could still search for POIs etc.
Topo works fine though.
But when another card without topo maps is inserted, the address function works fine! Any insight into this?

Re: GPSmap 60CSx - Part 2
plenty of possibilities. you can meet up any other experienced 60csx users, so that we can take a look at your unit and help diagnose the "problem". there is no internal memory to hold maps within the 60csx, hence the best guess i can make it that your TOPO maps is by garmin and covers up all the other maps below. Garmin's own maps will always cover any other non-Garmin issued maps.

Hmmm... Thanksss...
But i reckon the topo maps (i.e. Sg, My and Brunei) that come in my SD card shud still work with my GPS aight?

60csx is compatible with non-NT as well as NT maps, so your Topo maps would be fine.
However if the Topo maps are made/written by Garmin, it will cover all your other mapsets in your unit, similar to how white writing paper will cover your transparencies... just like back in school using OHP...

Re: GPSmap 60CSx - Part 2
I see....
Im using the GPS mainly for navigation purposes under canopy and terrain due to my work nature (military), given this, will the default Garmin map suffice?
I set the map datum to Kertau 1948, is that right?

Re: GPSmap 60CSx - Part 2
use WGS 84. it's the most common datum.... you only need to change it if your maps were created using another reference datum, from what i understand.
