As promised, the Garmin compiled MSM map for EVERYONE to enjoy irrespective of which units you have - Asian, US, Europe, Timbuktuu ..

The MSM NT 2009.XX will now replace the rather old MSM2.15. New users can now stroll in and use the 2009.XX right off the bat by following some easy steps below.

Users can now download the MSM NT2009.5 to use with your Garmin units without conditions. The MSM 3.XX Beta (cgpsmapper) will still be released on unlock codes basis (credits or otherwise).

Please go through the steps carefully to make sure it is a hassle free process!

Garmin User A : You own localised Malaysia / Singapore Nuvi 255W, 760 and 765 (also known in common parlance as : "MY/SG SKUs"):purchased from Garmin authorised dealers : AECO and Allbright and their dealers in Malaysia or Navicom and Allbright and their dealers in Singapore. An easy identification is the box will say "Dual Maps Preloaded"

1. Depending on when you purchased your unit, it will come preloaded with MSM NT 2009.x (the series used to identified by 2009.5 (to denote map release 2009 version May) but now with newer nomenclature : 2009.40 (denoting 2009 version quarter 4 release). If you have this map in your unit, then directly go to Garmin Singapore site. You can read more here http://www.malsingmaps.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=15957. Follow the instructions there to unlock your unit and download the map. If you own other Nuvi MY/SG SKUs purchased you can to go to the same site.



2. If the site says that your unit is NOT recognised, then go to Garmin User B.

3. Once your unit is verified to be MY/SG SKUs, you are able to download the file. Connect your GPS to the PC and launch the downloaded map installer. Installation will be automatic. Have your unlock code handy to paste it during installation.

4. You're done! This map will be referred to throughout this website as MSM NT 2009.XX JCV.

Garmin User B : You own other Garmin GPS units : Nuvi 2xx 3xx 6xx 7xx, Colorado, Oregon, 60CSx, 60Cx etc. which you purchased from other markets : US, UK, Europe, Australia (other than MY/Sg SKUs)

1. Download the zip files below (gmapprom1.img and gmapprom1.unl). Current version is MSM NT 2010.20.

2. Backup all existing map files in your unit. We are not responsible if you delete any of the files that came with your unit. Please be careful.

Unzip the 2 files: (i) gmapprom1.img and (ii) gmapprom1.unl (you may also rename them to gmapsupp.img and gmapsupp.unl)

3. Goto here to Garmin Singapore website to get your unl code. For Nuvi's you can find your GPSID under Tools - Settings - System - About . Other unit varies but you should be able to find it.

You'll need to enter MSM forum username, password, and your gps unit ID. A set of unlock code will be generated when everything is entered correctly.


4. Double click the gmapprom1.unl file. It will ask you what program do you wish to use to open the file. Select "Notepad". Paste the 25-digit unlock code generated from Garmin website into the .unl file, then "Save". Some OS allow you to right click the unl file and edit the file. Same results either way.



5. Connect your GPS to the PC and browse its internal memory. There is a "Garmin". Copy over gmapprom1.img and gmapprom1.unl into that folder. Do not save it into the "Garmin" folder of your SD card. This map is referred throughout this site as MSM NT2009.XX General Release version.

6. You're done.

MSM NT 2009.XX JCV version - contains encrypted Junction View images (viewable by selected MY/SG SKus only), proper junction / exit identification (more than 1000), built-in speed indicator, Lane Assist info, lightning fast recalculation, SG postal code (not POI based).

MSM NT 2009.XX General release version - small file, no Junction View images, proper junction / exit identification (more than 1000), built-in speed limit indicator, Lane Assist info, lightning fast recalculation, SG postal code (not POI based).

Units tested and proven working for Garmin User B: US Colorado 300, US Oregon 300, US 60CSx, US Nuvi 660. We are expecting very high compatibility but do report errors if you have found any here. Nuvi 300 user please read this viewtopic.php?p=153217#p153217

Note: Garmin NT format is not compatible to Que / GPSMap60c or earlier model.

Attached is Garmin compiled NT 2009.5 map. Also added the gmapprom1.unl file for first time users.

Just to clarify, the same instructions apply when loading 2009.3 previously. For those who have already unlocked 2009.3 previously for your set, you need not generate a new unl key.
