Hi, I'm a new garmin gps user. I've downloaded the junction view update from garmin singapore website. Now I get this message "can't unlock maps" each time I switch on the device. However after pressing ok, I'm still able to use it as normal. Not sure what when wrong during the installation and how to get rid of this message each time I switch on? or can I remove the previous installation to solve this problem. Appreciate if some expert here can guide me accordingly. Thanks.

:welcome:
That update was for the older nuvi which came with City Navigator Singapore/Malaysia NT v4.0X.

All newer nuvi comes with City Navigator Singapore/Malaysia NT 2009.XX. And if you run the Junction View Update, you will get that error message.

Try installing the "Update for Garmin City Navigator Singapore/Malaysia NT 2009.31 (2009-10)".

Thanks for the reply. When I tried installing the update you mentioned, I get a message that my device memory is already full and it would not allow me to install to the SD card. Therefore how can I clear some space in the memory or can I uninstall the previous update?

Memory full? :-k

Hmm... You want to try updating the files manually?

You can unzip the installer with WinRAR. Look for the file "gmapprom.img" and replace the one in the Garmin folder of your nuvi. Together with "gmapprom.img", you will also see a JCV file. Replace the one in Garmin/JCV folder of your nuvi.

how can I clear some of the unwanted files in my device to install the update you mentioned. I try to avoid manual update if possible, just in case something went wrong as I'm not good at it.

Here's the screenshot of my device. Which unwanted file can I safely delete?

What are you having for "gmapsupp.img"? It's so BIG in size.

Just cut it out and paste in onto your PC. In case you need it in the future.

Thanks, the error message is gone after I remove the large file into my PC and install the update you mentioned.

However, just found out that the large file actually contain maps of other countries preload into my device by my dealer and all of them are now gone. If I copy this file back into the device, will I able to get back these maps?
