bro, sorry file not compatible with my nuvi 205 dunno why... *headache* i press the british no voice come out.. i press american also same. i tried using my friends nuvi 205w voice also cannot.. when i select voice file it says voice not compatible...

can any other local nuvi 205 user help?

at least the gps is working with voice haha omg headache! lesson learned always backup first.

ps: anyone can provide me with british eng? (nuvi 205 set) not in hurry just for extra option

You're welcome. BTW, I don't think a Sing/Mal localized Nuvis support the British English voice file other than the TTS versions. When verifying the firmware (v2.80), I don't see any English_British_ (non-TTS) listed, there are only English_British_Daniel, English_British_Emily & English_British_Serena which does not apply to non-TTS models such as Nuvi205.

Just got myself a Nuvi 205W with the following details:
- SgMy Software Ver. 2.80
- GPS SW Version 3.90b

And the map detail:
- NT 2009.30

May I know whether I need to update and the firmware for my unit? If I would to update the MSM map, how can I do it? Previously I'm using PDA phone and I just copy the img file into the Garmin folder under the memory card.

No requirement to update your firmware (ver 2.80) as it is up-to-date. Your MSM NT 2009.30 map is not the latest version. The current one is 2009.40. YOu can update it from here. Since yours does not have JCV and Lane Assist, please follow the steps prescribed under "Garmin User B". The map will require a bit of effort to download and install since it requires unlock code. Since your device does not feature JCV and LA, I would suggest that you down the MSM ver 4.11 which is very simple to do. Just download, unzip, copy and paste the gmapsupp.img file into the Garmin folder in your SD card and you are good to go. No unlock code required. You can download from here.

Thanks Redstorm for the detail instructions. Is the content for both the MSM NT 2009.40 and MSM ver 4.11 the same?

Also about using the MSM ver 4.11, do I just need to create a folder named 'Garmin' straight in the SD card?

In order to save the internal memory, do I need to delete the old MSM NT 2009.30 files? How to do that?

Read this on the difference between the MSM NT and the MSM maps.

If you do not have a Garmin folder in your SD card, then you have to create one. Download, unzip, copy and paste the MSM ver4.11 map inside this folder. For the MSM NT 2009.40 map, during the installation, it will overwrite the older map. You can do it manually too by connecting your device to your PC using the USB cable. It is in the Garmin folder inside the main memory. Look for the gmapprom1.img and gmapprom1.unl files. Before you do so, it is wise to backup all the files in the main memory in case anything goes wrong. If I were you, I would leave it there and let the new map overwrite it during installation. Less hassle and risk if something goes wrong.

Ok, will try that out. Is it ok if I use the WebUpdater to update the MSM NT 2009.40 map?

How about the type of SD card? Do I need to use a high speed card or a normal one will do? I got an old Kingston 256MB SD card. Will it slow down the speed?
