Gmapsupp.zip is a zip file that you need to unzip to a gmapsupp.img file. This file is a Garmin compiled file that contains the map and readable by a Garmin device

Gmapprom1 is also a Garmin compiled file that contains the map. It is an alternative map file that is readable by a Garmin device.

See picture a list of supported files of Garmin devices.

To avoid confusion on your part, let's get back to your original question.

Sori more help,
I have successfully install MSM-ALL Installer v4.03
What is MSM ALL v4.06 for?
Thanks

To answer your question, let me explain a little. There are actually 3 versions of Garmin maps available in this forum.
  1. MSM NT, latest version is 2009.40 (Nov 2009), this map is a Garmin officially compiled map, requires unlock codes to work. Nevertheless, the map is free, unlock codes can be requested from Garmin SG site.
  2. MSM ALL, latest version is v4.10 (Feb 2010), this map is a cGPSmapper compiled map, and available only in GMAPSUPP.IMG format, which means it can be readily used in Garmin devices.
  3. MSM Installer, latest version is v4.08a (Jan 2010), this map is similar to the above, however it's a Mapsouce mapset installer. To use this version, you need to have Mapsource installed in the first place. Thereafter, map can also be transferred to a Garmin device (via Mapsource).

Note: Map content for similar version of MSM ALL and MSM Installer is identical (ie. MSM ALL v4.08a = MSM v4.08a Installer), however not all versions of the map is made into a Mapsource mapset installer. Hence, currently MSM ALL is the most updated map available.

Thank you very much.
So MSM Installer is the right choice if we use Mapsource.

Yes, you can use MSM Installer in Mapsource to plan your routes, etc. Eventhough the version is slightly dated compared to MSM ALL in your Zumo, routes can still be transfered and maybe recalculated in Zumo using latest map data available in it. And you're :welcome:

BTW, if you die-die need to use similar version in Mapsource too, you should know that there is a method to generate the mapset from the IMG, do PM me for this tip.

Well... For me, I will take the nuvi 1350. In term of specs, it's a direct replacement for nuvi 255W.

nuvi 1350 has additional feature like running the cityXplorer maps with enchanced pedestrian navigation. Also, it has the ability to load in lots of map.

However, almost all new things come with bugs. But should be solve in a matter of time.

Use MapSource.

Connect your old nuvi and use MapSource to "Receive From Device". Make sure Waypoints checkbox is checked.

Disconnect your old nuvi and connect your new 1350. On MapSource, select "Send To Device".
