Prawn fishing with siisuong

#1 Post by bernGPS » Tue Aug 17, 2010 6:56 pm

I was in Lawas during the weekend and met up with the Lawas mapper siisuong. He graciously showed me around Lawas and Kuala Lawas. After dinner the 1st night, he suggested we go prawn fishing the following day. I agreed as the last time I went prawn fishing was about 35 years ago.

He readied all the fishing rods as well as the baits for the fishing.

Our boat for the afternoon. It was leaky and have to continuously bail the water. But it was fun

Only catch of the day, besides the few belukang fish

More later

I never knew prawns were caught with a rod. Is the hook bait the same, bern? Give us a close-up of the hook on the prawn then. I'm curious how it bites.
Mappers wanted. Read this to get started. Payment = Recognition = Priceless.

SB, be patient. More coming.

Noah, yes, you can use a rod to catch prawn. The hook is slightly different from fishing hooks. The radius of the curve of the hook is wider. I will try to get a photo of the hook next time or perhaps if Bro siisuong sees this, he could post a photo of the prawn hook

There is no boat for today. So we have to cast our fishing line manually to the middle of the river
