The speaker is located at the back, and now cover with a layer of dust filter to protect your unit.

The micro usb connector is located at the bottom of the unit. At least a comfortable position to connect to pc. (1460 usb connector is right at back, what a weird position)

For car mount holder, the usb power in connector is at the back of the holder.

When connecting earlier nuvi model like to a pc, it is a little bit troublesome to get into the intended mode. With nuvi 2465, make your selection easily.

Nuvi 2465 is advertised as new generation, budget-friendly gps navigation device. So I'll concentrate more on the new features.

You'll 1st see the familiar menu screen. There is an extra button "ASR". This is to start the voice command. You can also activate by simply pronounce "Voice Command".

Screen orientation sensor
In case you rotate you nuvi 2465, you'll have the new feature on screen:

Voice Command
If you press "ASR" or speak out "voice command" in map navigation mode, the command screen will show up. By the way, you could change the setting to any other words you prefer in order to activate. Voice your selection according to the menu. There will be interactive voice guidance along this feature. As of how accurate of the voice recognition, well, I would say our Malaysian slang may hit some problem
Image
Word like "Tesco", "BSN", "Jusco" shall have no problem. While some other words like "Giant", "Mahkota"... can't be recognized. Our local slang perhaps. Alternate is to speak "hypermart", "medical center"... etc
Image
If you are not satisfy with the search, just voice "back" to return one step back. You need not restart everything from beginning.

Plan route new overview
When you have planned route in simulation mode, you will notice 2 extra up/down button. This is for speeding up / slowing down the simulation speed.
Image

There is another feature on the plan routing. When you a routing to your destination, click on bar on top of your screen, you will see the route guidance in text. Click on the option button (highlited in red circle).

Click on the show map

You'll be shown the overview routing map

Navigation Perferences
Nuvi 2465 comes with some of the features you found in nuvi 3790. In addition to that, there are extras goodies which only can be found in this 2xxx series.

Under "Setting" -> "Navigation" -> "Car", you'll see these options
Image

Under the "nüRoute", some interesting new features like ERP cost saving (for SG users), custom avoidance (by area) and myTrends
From Garmin Website wrote: With myTrends, when you save your regular destinations in your “Favorites,” your nüvi 2465 will, over time, begin to figure out where you’re going even without your telling it! It provides time of arrival and relevant traffic information. So whether you’re driving to and from work or a regularly scheduled weekly event, your nüvi 2465 will help you get there on time. No subscription or additional cost required.
Note: myTrends ONLY works for locations that are saved as Favorites

Avoidance by area
You can now add avoidance by area to suit your own routing.
Image
Follow the setup guide to set the 1st corner and the diagonal corner, you can have the area out of your routing consideration.
The red wire mash like avoidance area will show up as well during navigation mode

Map Theme
If you prefer you own color theme for map, you can try out some of the preset map color themes.
Image
Image

Bluetooth hands free set
You can use your Nuvi 2465 as hands free set during navigation. After pairing up, an extra phone icon show up in the main menu. The phone functions are shown as attached picture. The link to your phone contact list is pretty fast. No problem showing chinese character sets from your phone contact list as well.

Built-in Compass
Nuvi 2465 come with built-in compass, which means you can find your direction without gps satelite signal. Useful for the pedestrian mode.

Screenshot
All captured images are now save in png format.
Screenshot option can be saved and you don't have to enable it every time you turn on the nuvi.

Trip Planner
With trip planner, you could save 100 routes, specify via points, key in the departure time / duration and have the overview of the trip information and route info from the summary screen.
Image
Image
Image

Road Test
According to Garmin, Nuvi 2465 is using high sensitive gps chip.
Actual testing show that
cold start : 30 seconds
warm start : < 10 seconds
This satelite lock on speed indeed is very impressive!

Under the bright sunshine, screen is still viewable
Image

Switching to MSM v5.13 map, not problem.
For lane assist, it show up earlier at bottom bar. When reaching closer to the junction, a bigger set of lane assist icon show up at the upper left corner.

Running parallel with Nuvi 3790V (read here for Nuvi 3790V review http://www.malsingmaps.com/forums/viewt ... 23#p188023), the satelite signal sensitivity & lock on speed, route calculation and recalculation, poi search, voice command interaction are almost comparable with the nuvi 3790V.

So, overall, nuvi 2465, a mid range product, incorporating the best features from Garmin top of the line units and providing additional features, and keep within reasonable price. Highly recommended.

Thanks wsian for the review..... =D>

But there is still one feature, I presume missing, since you did not mentioned it. :-k

The ability to accept planned route transferred from mapsource......and of course from this, the ability to have many "Via points" in a route.

Yes, this one has the ability to have many via points in a route and it is called "Trip Planner". In the older Nuvi series, it is called "Custom Route".

As nuvi doesn't come bundle with mapsource, you can expect less of such mapsource specific function or feature.
