Invalid ID or Password - GPSID/Unlock Code Problem

#1 Post by bartmp8 » Thu Mar 03, 2011 1:00 pm

For those of you having problem generating an unlock code, pls re-read the instructions carefully
from here:
http://www.malsingmaps.com/forums/viewt ... 48#p147348

Make sure you note the following:
Redstorm wrote:Let me go thru with you some important steps to take note of and where many mistakes were made:

1. Use GPS ID no. when requesting for unlock codes (not serial no.!!)

2. When saving the unlock codes using Notepad, key-in "All Files" in the "Save as type" box
(mistake made is to select "Text Documents").

3. Also, during the saving, input the "gmapprom1.unl" if you intend to install the map and
unlock codes in the Garmin folder in the main memory or "gmapsupp.unl" if u intend to install
them in the Garmin folder in your SD card.

4. When installing the map file and unlock code files in the main memory of your device,
make sure that they are named gmapprom1.img and gmapprom1.unl respectively.
If you intend to install them in your SD card, don't forget to change the name to
gmapsupp.img and gmapsupp.unl respectively.

#4 Post by ahtung5 » Tue Dec 20, 2011 6:29 pm

My Garmin is purchased in Perth, Australia. When I try to get the unlock code using my username, password and unit ID it display Invalid ID or password. Please try again.

Any idea please.

I don't know which map you were trying to download and install but I assumed it is the MSM NT 2011.30 map which required the unlock code. SInce yours is not a localised set, don't waste time installing this particular map as you will not be able to view the Junction View. You should instead install the MSM v5.33 map, which is more up-to-date and it does not require any unlock code.

You still can generate unlock code for non-localised set but my point here is why install the MSM NT 2011.xx map when your device is not able to display the JCV.
