Hi there

#1 Post by Mandy1991 » Thu Apr 12, 2012 12:37 pm

Hello,

This is my first post here. May I know how I can update my hometown, Pekan? Although I live in Kuantan I do go back to Pekan in the weekends.

Thanks!

Well, you set up your device, which is a nuvi 2465, to collect the 1 sec tracklog.

Then use Mapsource to enrich the tracklog with details like road names, prominent landmarks, etc.

After which you can upload the file to the area mapper to incorporate it into our maps.

Here is a reference for your reading....

Hi ace,

Thank you for replying. If I may ask, what is a tracklog? Is that some kind of recording of where I've been?

Thanks for your help. I appreciate it very much.

Mandy

Yes. The tracklog is a recording of where you have been. The device is capable of two kinds of recording.

The usual logging is called trip log.

The one of interest to us is the 1 second track recording.. This means that a datapoint is plotted at every 1 second regardless of the speed you are travelling at. So if you are stopping at the traffic lights for a 30 seconds duration, when you look into the track collected, you will see 30 datapoints at the same stationary location.

The 1 second log is more important to draw the track more accurately.

For nuvi 2465, you can activate this hidden feature through the steps in this post:

Please try collecting your tracks, first time may not be successful, but it will be, after a few tries and questions and understanding the process.

Thanks again, ace. I'm on my way out for a hairwash. I've set the 1 second tracklog in my Nuvi and am so excited to try this out. See ya!
