marygoroundmusic wrote:Hi guys... just bought a new Nuvi 2465 last Monday, Wnt to confirm with sifu here...

i did categorize all my favorite such as... Family & Friend, Shopping, Landmark....

When i click on WHERE TO >> FAVORITE

all the favourite in Nuvi 2465 is not archive in their specified category, all favorite dump into 1 list of favorite even though i assigned a category.

Compare to my Nuvi 1350, When i click on WHERE TO >> FAVORITE

i can see list of CATEGORY, click on the category then only can see all the favorite belong to that category....

How can a achieve this in Nuvi 2465
klik Where To > Favourites >
then klik your favourites.. klik button edit. select categories ..klik + button..enter your category..klik done.

I have a question here:

If we decided not to have that directory later, can we delete it? If so how ?
Thanks

If you want to remove a certain category, for example ABC
You have to go through the various Favorites that has the category assigned to ABC and unselect it or assign to another category.
Do it for all Favorites that is assigned ABC.
Once all the POI for the Category ABC has been deselected the Category ABC will be removed by Nuvi

Thank you for your tips SilverBeauty.

I dared not create any new category for fear of cluttering my menu if I cannot delete them when not needed.
Garmin is known for not user friendly.

Had created category for favs but still do not see the category. All favs in 1 folder.

Anyone knows how to switch off the speed alert? Also the volume for the voice navigation is so soft compared to the sound of the beeps of the unit.

Ok.. I guess not much people know how to create category in the Nuvi since it is not written in the manual. ](*,)

This is how I do it....

1. Select "Where To?"
2. Select " Favourites" (I guess most of your current POIs is in here...judging by the conversations so far..)
3. Select one of your POI
4. On the left side of the screen, you will see maybe 3 symbols, a 3 Bars, a Flag pole, and a U turn arrow (or go back arrow)
5. Press the 3 Bar, a menu will appears.
6. Select Edit
7. Select Categories
8. Select the "+"
9. Type in a name for a new category e.g. Malacca Food
10. Unselect the category that you do not want the POI to also appears in.
11. Press the U turn arrow for a few seconds to go all the way back to the first page.

Woila...your POI is now saved in this new POI category.

PS 1...this procedure is for the latest Nuvi models..
PS 2...the category will be automatically deleted if there is no POI saved in it.. (need to confirm by others, so far my disappears if it is empty).
I don't have free fish......

After adding a few locations, the categories appeared. Seems like must have a certain number of saved locations then will appear.

I have a freaking problem after upgrading the garmin map. The alert for sharp bend is causing heart attack. The quran chanting every time i passby the mosque is annoying. I wonder which map cause the problem? malfreemap or malsing?
I want to downgrade it.

What do you mean by "quran chanting"? If there is a problem, it is unlikely to be caused by any of the maps. Either the file is corrupted or not properly installed. Try deleting it and re-installing it.
