As what Bro Redstorm mentions, it is a matter of personal perference. I now mute my Nuvi and rely on pure visual indications while in Singapore but when overseas and on unfamiliar places, rely on a combo of audio / visual directions.
This is especially so when you travel in small roads which are close to each other as the accuracy of the GPS tends to toggle between adjacent roads that faills within the accuracy tolerances.

Nuvi 300 no TTS and unlocked Malsingmap :)

The next one should be Nuvi 300 with TTS. If you are from Singapore, PW selling at $520 as of last Friday.
I got a Nuvi 300 without TTS, $490.

So it may be worth it for just $30 more .. if you even have a doubt u may need it...

Thanks for all your reply, looks like TTS is useful in city navigation.

i checked Garmin Website, Nuvi 300 does not support TTS.

Is it because of the recent software updates ?

S480, price is quite ok. Any Malaysia user buy this Nuvi 300 with TTS recently ?

What is the price and where you get it ?

Currently checking with Jchin but no reply yet.

From what I read so far, the prices of GPSr in Singapore seems to be cheaper than Malaysia. If the savings is substantial, why not get someone who's coming down to Sg to buy it for you?

GPS: Garmin Nuvi 250W
I just ordered my Garmin Nuvi 250W online, now waiting anxiously for it to arrive!

A quick question - do you guys leave your nuvi in the car or do you bring it along with you? I'm planning to keep it in the glove compartment so that I have a GPS handy whenever I need it. It will be sheltered from direct sunlight, but don't know if the heat will kill the unit or batteries. I expect my car to be in the sun only on weekends as my workplace has a basement carpark.

The Garmin published specs rate the Nuvi at 0 - 60 deg C. Midday, when parked in an open car-park, temperature in car can partial cook an egg. But in basement carpark should be ok.

True or not can really cook an egg :mrgreen: :mrgreen:

I think if put in the glove compartment should be alrite since I sometimes
left my phone or ex-pda or borrowed-Nuvi 200 in there also no problem as long as it's covered... :thumbsup: :thumbsup:

there nothing this plastic material can withstand our tropics temperature lah..

For sure going to melt your gps or black out your LCD scree hehe..
