The Nuvi 600

#1 Post by cychai98 » Sat Mar 08, 2008 11:27 pm

Hi! Everyone.
Do anyone use Nuvi 600?
It look like, not much people are using this model... :|

I hope who have using this model... can be sharing in this topic
Thanks.

May I know, the GPS antenna for Nuvi 300 series & Nuvi 600 series need to flip up.
Is it better than other series when receiving satellite signal?

Yes, the antenna flap of the 300 and 600 series need to be flipped up for the set to lock onto the satellites. Am unable to compare between the 300 and 600 series and other models as I only own the 660.

I do not have a Nuvi 200/700 to makea comparison. Do a search around this forum, and you will find that the flip up antenna generally has a better reception compared to the non-flip up type.

Thanks to joining this topic & Thanks to answer me a question. :)

Today Sunday (9 March 2008), I just went to one of the shopping complex in KL.
n I was found a new GPS shop got selling a Garmin Nuvi product.

I was asking him... what is the different between antenna with flip up model n non-flip up model?
Is it will get better satellite signal with flip up?
He told me not much difference.
Second question I ask him... Are you a dealer?
He told me, Yes.
??? :-? As I know that, only one Garmin dealer's in Taman Maluri, Cheras (Malaysia)

Last question I ask him again... what is the price for Nuvi 200 (non-wide screen)?
He told me, RM 1XXX
(Wa!!! So expensive! My Nuvi 600 also same price with that model) Why ar???
Can't understand why he selling so much higher.

In theory, the antenna design for the "flip" type is more directional compare to a built-in type.
You will have a better reception if the flip type antenna placed at the condition of horizontal to ground.

I have compared my Nuvi 660 with GPS 10x, the reception is always better with flip type provided the antenna is horinzontal to ground.
