Does any one know more about this Garmin software?

http://www8.garmin.com/products/communicator/faq.jsp

the FAQ seems to skirt the issue of what the program does :-?

what is the purpose of transferring data from a GPS device to a website?

Okay, got the page now. As GPSPowered (kelvin) implied, this "Garmin Communicator Plugin" running in IE6+/FF1.5+ should act like Mapsource for communication between PC and Garmin GPSr to transfer data such as waypoints and tracks. Good stuff.
