#1 Post by shiershao » Sun Sep 09, 2007 4:04 pm

Hi,

Just want to ask which model will be better for using GPS maps? Does the PDA RAM & ROM important to support the maps? If yes, what is the recommended RAM? & ROM 64MB & 64MB good enough? :)

If your Ipaq comes with no built in GPS receiver, the most important thg is to have BT so you could connect to GPSr. :)

I'm using Ipaq 6828, working very well....

I'm using Ipaq Rx4540 internal memory 1Gb, 128mb ram. I installed 5-6 GPS softwares to play around. And 2gb SD card to store maps.

If you can afford a new one, get one with most RAM & best processor. If not, I'll still recommend a XDAIIi, it has all that you want, and 128MB RAM with 520MHZ processor, very rare spec for a PDA these days. You can only find a second hand one now. Cost? Less than one thousand...

U plan to use it as navigator while driving? If dats the case, I would advise you getting a standalone gpsr rather than gpsr+pda which is very not driver friendly...

I'm looking at HTC TyTN II (aka HTC Kaiser) that has just been announced in Malaysia for that GPS+3G+PDA combo. I understand they'll be available early Oct07 at about RM3,088. :-k
