If you are building a map covering many cities or towns, you can enhance your map's searching feature by adding city and region filters.

Garmin have three level of location filter: Country -> Region -> City

For Malaysia, this scheme translates nicely to Country -> State -> City

Defining City Object[edit]

Once your city index structure is properly defined, you have to create a city point for each of the city you created in the city index structure.

  1. Create a point
  2. Select the appropriate city type base on city size. Use only type 0x01 to 0x0d.
  3. Click the Address tab
  4. Click the ... button beside the city field to bring up the city list
  5. Select the appropriate city
  6. Check the Enable indexing this object as city checkbox

NOTE: With new versions of cgpsmapper, defining the city object i.e. this whole section may not be necessary.
