Having proper road intersections is a prerequisite for routable maps. Without proper road intersections, your map cannot become a routable map.

A proper intersection is where all intersecting roads contain a point or node each at the intersecting coordinate.

  1. Draw the roads
  2. Click to select the first road of the intersection
  3. At the intersecting point, press INSERT to create a new node. You can also right-click and select Insert Node Here
  4. Click to select the second road of the intersection
  5. At the intersecting point, press INSERT to create a new node. You can also right-click and select Insert Node Here
  6. Right-click the intersecting poing. If both nodes are at the same coordinate, the Connect to nearest node option should be enabled in the popup menu. Select this option
  7. There will be a coloured square at the intersecting point. Different colours denote different number of roads intersecting at that particular point. You should look our for red square which indicates error or blue square which indicates road end at one of the road
  8. Continue the process at all intersections

A map with properly done intersections should look as below http://www.malsingmaps.com/tutorials/MapRef/Intersection-Done.gif
