Illustrated guide on how to install MapSource

Installation

  1. Download from http://www8.garmin.com/support/download_details.jsp?id=209
  2. Use WinRAR to extract the contents of the downloaded file.
    1. right click on the 'MapSource_6141.exe' then extract it using winrar
      Openwithwinrar.jpg
    2. the contents of setup.exe
      Winrar-main.jpg
    3. extract into a local folder on the PC
      Extractsetup.jpg
  3. Remove all external drives since main.msi will install on the last hard drive.
  4. Look for main.msi and double-click on it. Let the installation finish.

Installation complete

The MapSource installation is now complete. No need to click on setup.exe. However you can't open MapSource yet since there is no map installed. If you try to open MapSource now, you will get this error message;
