GPSr screen capture / customizing your startup screen
From MalsingWiki
Most models of Garmin GPSr support transferring current displayed bitmap to your personal computer. The advantage of doing this is that the image created will be an exact copy of what is displayed on your GPSr, the best camera will not be able to capture this. You will need your serial/USB cable.
You can also customize your Garmin startup splash screen. Using xImage, download your Garmin splash, edit it without changing the size or colour depth and upload it to your Garmin. Remember to make a backup copy of your original startup splash screen for you to restore it when needed.
